Engagement VA-MD Vet Med

Our Mission

Why international veterinary medicine?

The global economy, multinational corporations, foreign development aid and increased mobility of people and products have created fascinating new opportunities in the public, corporate and nonprofit sectors. Veterinarians working in the global arena need to understand the roles of government agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations and their impact on international trade, global business and disease control and prevention.

International veterinary medicine also enables individuals to recognize and operate more effectively in multicultural environments, use alternative negotiation and conflict resolution strategies for different situations, and converse knowledgeably about current global issues. These experiences increase knowledge, skills and abilities in leaders who can successfully impact the global veterinary community.
