About the Harry T. Peters, Jr. Large Animal Hospital
The Harry T. Peters, Jr. Large Animal Hospital at the VMRCVM in Blacksburg, VA is a state-of-the-art hospital that is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our hospital faculty and staff provide care for patients coming from a large geographic area surrounding Blacksburg including Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Our ambulatory service provides care to local clients within a 35-mile radius of Blacksburg.
Both in-hospital and ambulatory services provide treatment to large animals on a scheduled and emergency basis. Specialized care is available in the hospital and on the farm for many species of large animals, including horses, camelids, cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs.
We utilize the most recent diagnostic modalities and state-of-the-art technology to provide optimal care for our large animal patients. In addition, faculty are available for phone consultations with referral veterinarians in the surrounding region and for owners wishing to seek a second opinion or specialty information.
