SEF Scholarship Opportunity
The VBMA is proud to announce a brand new scholarship
at VMRCVM. We have partnered with Simmons & Associates,
a leading nationwide veterinary practice broker, to introduce the Simmons Educational Fund (SEF) Scholarship.
The $1500 scholarship is awarded annually to a third-year VMRCVM student, and only VBMA members are eligible.
The winners are chosen based on submission of a resume and cover letter which addresses a specific topic chosen
each year by the SEF Board.
In addition to one third-year VBMA member from our school being awarded the $1500 annually, that annual winner will also be eligible to compete with the winners from the other veterinary medical schools for the $10,000 grand award. This national grand award winner is also given a trip out to the Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas to receive the award, including airfare, 3-nights lodging, spending money – the works! It’s an amazing prize, and another incredible benefit of VBMA membership.
VPI-VBMA-NAVC Vet Student Case Study Competition
Each fall, VPI hosts the VPI-VBMA-NAVC Student Case Study Competition. One Veterinary Business Management Association (VBMA) member from each
VBMA chapter is eligible to win a trip to the North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC) in Orlando, Florida or a $1000 Visa gift card.
The case study competition tests students on their pet insurance ‘know-how.’ Each contestant is asked to select and describe an interesting clinical case, and provide a benefits breakdown of a VPI Pet Insurance policy claim (assuming the pet was insured by VPI’s Superior Plan and VRCC Rider). Contest entries from veterinary schools nationwide are judged on accuracy, thoroughness, and complexity of the clinical case they have chosen.
What might competition participants expect to gain? They develop critical thinking skills in evaluating and understanding the benefits of
a product (pet insurance) before recommending or discussing it with future clients. Winners have the opportunity to expand their educational
horizons by attending NAVC in Orlando, January 19-23, 2008. Winners of the VPI-VBMA-NAVC Student Case Study Competition receive:
- Airfare to Orlando, Florida to attend NAVC (not to exceed $600).
- Free registration at NAVC (courtesy of NAVC).
- A $600 Visa Gift card to assist with Orlando hotel, transportation and meal expenses.
- A VPI hosted reception for all winners and VBMA members while in Orlando.
Note: If a student is unable to attend NAVC, they will have the option to receive a $1000 Visa gift card.
