Charlie Alex

Hailing from suburban northern Virginia, Charlie joins the VA-MD Vet Med class of 2015 having earned degrees in International Studies and Literary/Cultural Studies (B.A., William and Mary, '06) and Biology (B.S., George Mason University, '10). He has interests in veterinary public health, international veterinary medicine, and wildlife/conservation medicine.


Stephanie Apple

Stephanie, a budding veterinary student from Manassas, VA, graduated from The College of William and Mary with a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Science. She spent much of her time in college working in a research lab focusing on endocrinology. Stephanie's experience in this lab ,as well as volunteering at local veterinary offices inspired her to attend vet school. Stephanie hopes to continue her involvement with research while in school. In the future, she hopes to becoming a small animal veterinarian and is interested in internal medicine and cardiology. Her hobbies include hiking, scuba diving, and traveling.


Shauna Bartholomew

Shauna is from Palmerton, Pennsylvania, a small town in the southern portion of the Poconos. She graduated from Delaware Valley College in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology. Ever since she was a young girl, Shauna has aspired to be a veterinarian, practicing her skills on her stuffed animals. Shauna hopes to return to her community as a large animal veterinarian and possibly go on to specialize in a particular field. Her hobbies include horseback riding and skiing.


Cassie Blake

Cassie is from Manchester, CT and graduated with her BSBA in Finance and Economics. After working in the investment management industry and volunteering at an animal hospital she decided return to school. Her hobbies include hiking with her two dogs.


Dustin B. Burch

Dustin, from Newburg, MD, graduated with his B.S. in Animal & Poultry Science with a Pre-Veterinary Emphasis in Poultry in 2010. After spending a year in working for the Maryland Dept. of Agriculture working in all aspects of the poultry industry he decided to return to veterinary school. He is currently the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015 Sergeant of Arms. Dustin aspires to become an Avian Veterinarian dealing mainly with government and corporate industry while also giving back to the community through volunteering with different 4-H, FFA programs, and with local extension offices. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, farming, hiking, sport shooting, and hanging out with good ol' friends.


Laura Cincotti

Laura, originally from Philadelphia, PA graduated with her B.S in Biology in 2001 from Ursinus College and her M.S. in Wildlife/Fisheries Biology in 2008 from Frostburg State University. She is pursuing a career in wildlife medicine, possibly rehabilitation, in zoos, or working with marine mammals. She also has interests in the fields of complementary/alternative therapies and emergency care. A few of her hobbies are SCUBA diving, video games, and loving on her own pets.


Catherine Claxton

Catherine grew up on a small dairy and swine production farm in Berks County Pennsylvania. Her farm had 60 head of cattle producing for Clover Hill Farms, and they raised finisher hogs for Hatfield. She went to Penn State University for undergrad, majoring in Veterinary & Biomedical Science with a minor in Biology, and she graduated in May 2011. She will be tracking food animal medicine, and hopes to go into a private practice. She enjoys any kind of outdoor activities and anything athletic, especially intramural sports. Fun fact, She won 3 intramural championships at Penn State for flag football, and is red cross certified in Kayaking safety.


Megan Creasy

Megan is from Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in veterinary and biomedical sciences. She has worked as a veterinary technician assistant during summer breaks for the past 4 years. Upon graduation she hopes to enter a mixed animal practice to treat small animals and food animals. In her free time she enjoys anything outdoors and spending time with family and friends.


Katie Eisner

Katie grew up in Jarrettsville, MD and attended nearby Loyola University Maryland. In May of 2011, she graduated with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in French. Currently, she is one of two Honor Board Representatives for the Class of 2015.


Miranda Elswick

Maranda Elswick, a native of Buchanan County, VA, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pikeville College in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Wanting to be a veterinarian "since the womb," Elswick is excited to see where her Christian faith will lead her to service within the veterinary profession, most likely in private practice as a small animal vet. She enjoys good food, fashion, travel, and cuddling with fuzzy kittens.


Amelia Ettinger

Amelia is an aspiring small animal veterinarian from Gaithersburg, Maryland. In May of 2011 she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland. Amelia hopes to run her own practice someday, and might also specialize in either radiology or surgery. Her hobbies include running, cooking, baking, hiking, paintball, and snuggling with her kittens.


Ben Evans

From a small town in Southside Virginia, Ben graduated from Brigham Young Univerity in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology. An exotic (and regular) pet fanatic from a young age, Ben is working to become a companion and zoo exotic animal veterinarian. Ben's hobbies include hip hop and tap dance, parkour, service, languages, playing classical piano, and general wisecrackery.


Brett Fontaine

Brett is from California (via Baltimore, Maryland), and he got his B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis. He likes to do stuff outside in his spare time (which is extremely limited as of late) and is planning on being either an equine or Mixed Large Animal Vet.


Brittany Fox

Brittany graduated from Clemson University in 2011 with a B.S. in animal science. She participated in dairy reproduction research during her years at Clemson and she wishes to pursue a career in food animal medicine with an emphasis in dairy cattle. Her hobbies include hiking, playing with her dog (Capone) and hanging out with friends on the weekends.


Cierra French

Cierra is from Colora, MD, and graduated from Towson University with a B.S. in Biology and a B.S. in Chemistry in 2011. Throughout her undergraduate studies she worked as a veterinary assistant, and volunteered in animal shelters, as well as sterilization clinics. Her hobbies include studying, yoga, and art, and she hopes to become a small animal specialist in the future.


Stacey L. Hartman

Stacey is a central Pennsylvania native who earned her B.S. in Biology in 2006 and her MAEd in Community College Biology Instruction in 2009. After stints in research and teaching, she realized that her true passion had always been to follow in her father's footsteps and become a veterinarian. She aims to be a small animal general practitioner and work with her father in PA, eventually taking over his shares of ownership in the clinic. In her little precious spare time outside of vet school, she likes to hang out with her husband (Adam) and friends, including going to the driving range, taking wine tours, and watching her Philadelphia Eagles. Stacey stays sane by ending each day with a good book and snuggling with her dog (Starr) and three cats (Deacon, Wolfy, and Phoenix).


Karen Hicks

Karen came to VA-MD Vet Med after several years working in non-profit management in Washington, D.C., where she was also a volunteer for the Smithsonian National Zoological Park and the Washington Animal Rescue League. Her main interest is in small animal medicine. Following graduation, she hopes to spend a lot of time outside private practice running spay/neuter and vaccination clinics in developing countries.


Katie Howard

Katie is originally from Rhode Island and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a B.S. in Biological Sciences. Since then Katie worked for a year in a small animal emergency clinic and later a large drug development CRO performing pre-clinical toxicology animal studies. Her veterinary career interests are in small and equine medicine. Katie's hobbies include reading books, watching movies, and football, especially Hokie football!!


Amey L. Jones

Amey is from Prince George, VA and studied Biology at Sweet Briar College, which she graduated from in 2010. She then took the next year to shadow a dairy veterinarian, since all she knew about were small animals, and work on her MBA. Everything she did from high school until now has related to her want to get into veterinary school. Now that she is in veterinary school, she enjoys going to class, participating as one of the class fundraising chairs, and spending time with her two black labs, Whiskey and Aspen, and her husband. When she graduates VA-MD Vet Med in 2015, Amey wants to become a mixed animal, small and bovine focused, veterinarian and eventually open her own practice once her husband retires from the US Army, with him as her business manager.


Severin Knudsen

Severin is a native of Portland, Oregon and a graduate of Yale University. Instead of choosing a career related to his Astronomy and Physics degree he chose to pursue a lifestyle that would make him much happier. After graduation he hopes to move West with his wife (currently enrolled at UVa Medical School) to practice food animal medicine in a under-served rural area. Severin is an outdoor enthusiast and avid beer brewer.


Abby Kobylinski

Abby is originally from Harborcreek, PA but moved to Blacksburg in 2009 to attend Virginia Tech and ultimately the VA-MD Vet Med. She started her college career at California University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology. Abby enjoys spending her free time playing sports and training her dog, Hokie, for obedience competitions and hopes to pursue agility with him in the near future. Small animal behavior and emergency medicine are her primary areas of interest, and she hopes to see herself in private practice after graduation.


Ashley Kyle

Ashley grew up in Stuarts Draft, VA on a small farm. In May of 2011 she graduated with a B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences and a minor in Chemistry from Virginia Tech. She is interested in food animal medicine and small animal orthopedic surgery and plans to work in private practice. Outside of vet school, Ashley enjoys hiking, playing volleyball, being outdoors, and of course Hokie football!!!


Chelsea Landa

Chelsea grew up on a horse farm in northern Maryland where she developed a passion for large animals and veterinary medicine. She went to The University of Delaware for her undergraduate studies where she majored in animal science. After UD, Chelsea completed her Master's Degree at VT where she studied and evaluated the effect of weaning stress on beef calves. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys outdoor adventures and riding her horse, Shanti. After graduation from veterinary school, Chelsea plans on working in a mixed animal practice, but hopes to focus on large animals.


Jennifer Ledesma

Jennifer came to us all the way from across the country; she was born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA. She was awarded a B.S. in Cellular and Developmental Biology at California State University Fullerton. Jennifer, throughout her undergraduate years, volunteered at a local animal shelter and worked as a veterinary assistant in a small animal practice. In addition, she was very active in enzymatic research throughout college, which led to a unique opportunity to attend The University of Oxford in England for a semester where she helped a team of scientist study the formation of anaphase bridges in yeast, her work was published in “Nucleic Acids Research”. Her combined love of science and animals led her to pursue a career as a veterinarian. Jennifer’s interests include watching movies, reading, and spending time with friends, her boyfriend and family (including her furry family members). After graduation Jennifer hopes to work in a small animal practice.


Lucy Lee

Lucy received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in Geography/Environmental Studies with a minor in French/Francophone Studies in 2007. After studying abroad in Brazil where she was an intern at a wildlife rehabilitation center, she decided to pursue veterinary school and applied to a post-baccalaureate program at Chapman University where she also taught general biology. Although a Californian at heart, she is happy to be a part of the VA-MD Vet Med class of 2015 and enjoys all that Virginia has to offer. Her career interests include academia, international vet med, and working for federal, state, and local governments. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, hiking, watching movies, traveling, yoga, volleyball, and surfing.


Miranda Lilly

Miranda was born in northern Virginia and grew up the rural southwestern Virginia town of Lebanon. In 2011, she graduated with a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Veterinary Sciences from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. She was reluctant to leave the mountains, but she knew veterinary medicine was her calling since she was four years old, so she was thrilled to be accetped as a DVM candidate for the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015. She plans on pursuing a career in the public/corporate sector, focusing on small animal medicine. Her hobbies include snow skiing, hiking with her dog, napping with her cat, going to concerts, spending time with her family, and watching football (GO HOKIES AND REDSKINS!)


Cara Lubarsky

Cara grew up in a small town in northeast Massachusetts. She received her B.S. in Animal Science and Neurobiology/ Physiology From the University of Maryland in 2008. Cara's interests lie in small animal and companion exotic general practice and emergency. When she is not consumed by studying she enjoys reading, playing and watching sports, and spending time with her friends, family, and furry children.


Brendan Martin

Brendan was raised in the Shenandoah Valley on a beef cattle, poultry, and crop farm. Throughout high school, he was an active member in 4-H and FFA, and then attended Virginia Tech for Animal and Poultry Sciences. When Brendan is not studying, he enjoys Hokie Football and outdoor activities. His concentration is in food animal medicine, and has an interest in bovine reproduction. Along with practicing veterinary medicine, mainly in the areas of beef and dairy cattle, Brendan also plans to have a herd of Angus cattle where he can supply replacement heifers for other beef producers.


Kristin Marzin

Kristin, is from Sterling, VA and graduated from Penn State in 2011 with a B.S. in Veterinary and Biomedical Science. Her goal is to practice as a companion animal veterinarian. Kristin enjoys having fun with friends, reading, figure skating, and spending time with her dog, Nellie.


Carly Mayer

Carly grew up in Montclair, Virginia. She graduated with a BS in Biology from James Madison University in 2008. She then moved to Richmond, VA where she attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received her Professional Science Masters in Bioinformatics. Carly then spent some time at the Medical College of Virginia, where she worked as a bioinformaticist on the human microbiome until moving to Blacksburg. Carly plans to focus on Equine and Food Animal medicine, with an interest in equine podiatry. She spends her free time training her Irish sport horse, reading, playing with computers and being outdoors.


Griffin McDonald

Griffin is from Germantown, Maryland. He completed his undergraduate work in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech, graduating in 2011. After working a few years in mixed-animal private practice and spending the last couple of summers in biomedical research, he would like to pursue a career laboratory animal medicine.


Chelsea Moruzzi

Chelsea is from Cheshire, CT and graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT with a degree in Veterinary Technology/Pre Veterinary Sciences. She plans on pursuing small animal medicine with an interest in shelter medicine. Her hobbies include going to the gym, watching movies and studying for vet school.


Jimmy Murray

Jimmy is a native of Yorktown,VA and attended Virginia Tech for three years with a major in Biochemistry. He aspires to go into small animal practice. His hobbies include playing golf, being a fan of almost any sport.


Clara Nelson

Clara grew up on a beef cattle and sheep farm in Natural Bridge, Virginia. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech. She is interested in food animal private practice and would eventually love to do non-profit vet work in Latin America. Clara loves Hokie football and basketball and probably spends too much time watching and discussing games. Go Hokies!


Kristin Paige

Kristin, a native of White Plains, NY, earned a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Brandeis University in 2006. Following graduation and beginning work as an assistant in a small animal hospital in New York, she was quickly reminded of her passion and worked towards applying to veterinary school. Since then, she completed her prerequisite coursework, got married, and is currently enjoying life as a Marine-wife. Her hobbies include running, spending time with her Yorkie Madison, and cooking. In the future she hopes to work as a small animal practitioner.


Sarah Peloquin

Sarah is originally from Westminster, MD. She graduated from Juniata College in 2011 with a Biology major and an English minor. Sarah is currently tracking mixed animal (small animal and equine) at VA-MD Vet Med and looks forward to deciding exactly which field she wants to enter after graduation. In her spare time, she loves to run, read, and play with her Jack Russell/Beagle mix, Sawyer.


Kristina Perez

Kristina graduated in 2011 from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Biology. She is working toward her DVM with an eye toward the Public/Corporate track and a heavy interest in zoological medicine. Outside of vet school, she most enjoys creative writing.


Molly Pfeifer

Molly is from Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2011 with a B.S. in Animal Science. Although she comes from the suburbs, Molly spent her college years working on a farm and is interested in practicing food animal medicine. Her hobbies include hiking, baking, and cuddling with her cat.


Shauna Prasse

Shauna is a farm girl from the very small town of Locust Grove, VA. Her veterinary aspirations began at a young age, fueled by a love of animals and an intense desire to know how to fix things when they broke. Eventually she plans to own her own mixed practice and take over the family horse farm. In her spare time, she enjoys playing outside and dabbling in action photography.


Jonatan D. Pribluda

Jonatan, who calls Silver Spring, Maryland home, attended the University of Maryland and received his B.S. in General Biology in 2010. He is interested in food animal medicine, and would eventually like to either work in private practice or serve as the attending veterinarian at a USDA research facility.


Nina Randolph

Nina Randolph was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Northern Virginia. She graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2011 with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Leadership. Her hobbies include crafts, hiking, and studying. Nina has interests in both food and small animal medicine and would one day like to own her own practice and live on a small farm in the country.


Elyse Olechnowicz

Elyse is from New Jersey and obtained her B.A. in Organismal Biology from SUNY New Paltz in 2010. She also worked as a veterinary technician for 5 years prior to coming to the VA-MD Vet Med. Her interests are in small animals and exotics, and upon graduation she would like to pursue Board Certification, possibly in Neurology. In her free time she loves to read and spend time outdoors with her dog, Diesel.


Edward Radue

Edward was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2007 with a B.S. in Biology. He is a member of the class of 2015, and plans on practicing equine ambulatory medicine. He also enjoys trail riding, skiing, and hiking.


Danielle Reece

Danielle, originally from Bel Air, Maryland, received her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in the spring of 2011. Danielle has been dreaming of becoming a veterinarian her entire life, and considers herself blessed to be able to study at VA-MD Vet Med on the Mixed track, focusing on small and large animal medicine. After obtaining her DVM, Danielle hopes to use her degree to serve people and animals as a surgeon, or a specialist (either in ophthalmology or oncology). Within the college, she is a member of SCAVMA and the Christian Veterinary Fellowship. Outside of school, Danielle enjoys listening to music and watching movies.


Sarah Repsher

Sarah, from Westminster, MD. Graduated with a BS in Animal Biotechnology and Conservation from Delaware Valley College in 2011. Throughout her four years at college she gained a variety of hands on experience with many different animals from a combination of work and school. Sarah aspires to be a mixed animal vet with plans still developing for the future. Her hobbies (when she has time) include reading, drawing, painting, and being with friends and family.


Tom Riegel

Tom, from Lexington, VA, graduated with a B.A. in Biology in 2009 from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, MI. He enjoys playing musical instruments, hiking, and learning foreign languages.


Allyson Ripley

Allyson Ripley was born and raised in Midlothian Virginia and completed her BS in Biology with an minor in Animal Science at Virginia Tech. Although growing up in the suburbs, Allyson is interested in food animal medicine with an emphasis on small ruminants and theriogenology. In her spare time she competitively trains and runs her two Border Collies in sheepherding trials. If there is any time left in the day, she also enjoys reading and painting.


Ashley Roberts

Ashley received her B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences with a Livestock Science emphasis from Virginia Tech in 2011. Being active in 4-H, FFA, and growing up on a small farm caused Ashley to pursue her goal to become a veterinarian from an early age. During college, she also rehabilitated three horses and served as an undergraduate teaching assistant in an animal nutrition class and a livestock handling class in the department of animal science. Currently, when Ashley has time away from vet school she enjoys helping children with livestock 4-H projects and spending time with her horses and border collies. Ashley hopes to work in a mixed practice after veterinary school.


Meme Robinson

Meme grew up in Washington D.C. and graduated from Stevenson University with a B.S. in biology. Meme played basketball for all four of her undergraduate years, and is now one of the assistant basketball coaches at Blacksburg High School (go lady bruins!). She plans to persue a career in small animal emergency medicine.


Ashley Roller

Originally from Olney, MD, Ashley spent her time as an undergraduate studying at the University of Maryland while also gaining experience in small animal clinical practice. She graduated in 2011 with dual degrees in Animal Science and General Biology, and is now looking to track in exotic and small animal veterinary medicine. Although her free time is limited, she does enjoy the occasional opportunity to read, work on art, and play soccer.


Kristina Ruffner

Kristina grew up on a beef cattle farm in the Shenandoah Valley (Virginia). She attended Virginia Tech as an undergraduate, majoring in Animal and Poultry Sciences. After receiving her DVM, she hopes to work at a private practice in a rural setting, treating primarily small animals and cattle. In her free time, Kristina enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and spending time with her pets.


Alexandra Silver

Alexandra, a native of Baltimore,MD, graduated with a B.S. in Biology in 2008. After graduation, she spent three years working in a 24-hour emergency animal hospital and volunteering with the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project. She is currently the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015 Treasurer. Ali would like to gain experience in all fields of veterinary medicine. Her hobbies include hiking, playing team sports,cooking and relaxing with friends.


Katelyn Somers

Katelyn is from Annapolis, Maryland and graduated in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology from the University of Maryland at College Park. She is tracking in Small Animal Medicine and hopes to work in a private practice after graduation. Katelyn enjoys singing, hiking, and being with friends and family.


Scotti Stiff

Scotti is a native of Mechanicsville, VA. She graduated with her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in May 2011. After graduation, she entered VA-MD Vet Med and became a member of the Class of 2015. Upon graduation, Scotti hopes to work in a small animal practice and work closely with animal rescue groups to help those animals that are less fortunate. Her hobbies include reading, listening to/singing music, watching movies, and spending time with her 6 cats and her loving pit bull.


Jesse Sugrue

Jesse, a Massachusetts native, graduated with a BS in Biology from Mount Holyoke College in 2010. Growing up on a farm and next door to a veterinary clinic helped guide her on her path to becoming a Veterinarian. Her hobbies include riding her horse, trail running with her dog, and camping.


Mel Toulouse

A native of Arlington, Va, Mel graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She loves sports, particularly soccer, and serves as the class of 2015's co-sports chair. Mel hopes to one day work in Brazil as a mixed animal practitioner. She has 4 rescue dogs: 3 from Brazil and one from West Virginia. Her hobbies include reading, writing, playing sports, dancing salsa and napping.


Kelly Underwood

Kelly grew up in Vienna, VA and graduated from the University of Virginia in 2010 with a B.A. in English and Biology. She is interested in conservation and small animal medicine, and enjoys spending time with her one-year-old terrier mix, Judy.


Lindsay Vega

Lindsay is from Smithsburg, Md. She will graduate with a B.S. in Animal and Poultry Science from Virginia Tech at the end of her first year of vet school. She wanted to work with animals her entire life and worked extremely hard to get into vet school. She is currently the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015 service representative. LIndsay is not sure whether she wants to be a small animal vet or a mixed animal vet. She is also interested in small animal orthopedics. Her hobbies include studying, exercising, reading, and visiting her family and boyfriend when she has time.


Elizabeth Wall

Elizabeth is from Gresham, Oregon. In 2011, she graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington with a BA in Spanish and a BS in Biology. She is currently the Class Secretary for the Class of 2015. Elizabeth likes to hike, cook and bake, and travel.


Eve Waters

Eve, from Silver Spring, MD, graduated from Cornell University in 2011 with a BS in Animal Science. She is interested in small and large animal veterinary medicine, and would ultimately like to work in a practice that gave her exposure to both. Eve's hobbies include reading, writing, running, shoes, and of course hanging out with her classmates inside and out of class.


Ellen Weaver

Ellen grew up in Lakeland, FL and graduated from Florida Southern College with her B.S. in Biology and a minor in Psychology. After an internship in wildlife rehabilitation, Ellen moved to Virginia and worked in an equine referral hospital until joining the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015. She plans on tracking either Equine or Food Animal and is proud to be a Hokie!


Eric Weiner

Eric joins VA-MD Vet Med after a year at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He graduated from Hofstra University in 2010 with a BA in Biology and double minor in biochemistry and music, despite originally majoring in music education. Although passionate about small animal medicine, Eric will be engaging the mixed animal track due to an interest in all species, and a desire to live in Vermont with his fiancÚ, Sarahbeth, and their dog, Murphy. Upon graduating VA-MD Vet Med, he will become his family's third generation veterinarian.


Drew Whittier

Drew was born and raised here in Blacksburg, VA. He left Blacksburg to attend school at Brigham Young University in Utah. After 4 years of college getting his BS in Biology and 2 years living in Hungary doing a mission for his church he is back home. Drew would like to become a food animal practitioner. His favorite hobbies are sports, hunting, and camping.

Drew passed away after a battle with cancer in July of 2012.  His presence as a member of our class is missed daily. 

The class of 2015 is thankful that Drew was a part of our class, and he in our thoughts and prayers.  We miss you, Drew!


Julie Willenkin

Julie, from Lancaster, PA, graduated with a B.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biosciences from the University of Delaware in 2011. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she worked at Zoo America North American Wildlife Park, volunteered at an emergency clinic, and shadowed in companion animal clinics. She also studied international veterinary medicine while abroad in Australia. Her hobbies include going to Disney World with her family, eating a great meal, dancing, attempting to pet her cat, and spoiling her two dogs when her dad isn't looking. After graduation, Julie hopes to get married to her boyfriend, Nick, and work as a small animal veterinarian in a private practice.


Brittany Wilt

Brittany, a native of Lovettsville, VA, graduated with a B.S. in Animal & Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2010 and worked in the animal science industry for a brief period before entering the VA-MD Vet Med Class of 2015. Brittany strives to be a veterinarian for the state or federal governments and contribute to the public health arena. Her hobbies include riding horses, fishing, hiking, and traveling out west.


Clara Winstead

Clara is from Richmond, Virginia. She studied Chemistry and Mathematics at James Madison University, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in mathematics, in 2006. After teaching high school mathematics, she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Clara has volunteered for various animal rescue groups since 2001, and is interested in small animal and shelter medicine. Clara has been married to her husband, Bobby, for ten years. They live in Richmond with their rescued dogs and adopted cats. In her free time, Clara enjoys reading, hiking, and cooking.
