Postdoctoral Associate, Biomedical Science

A post-doctoral position is available to develop tumor-targeted recombinant Newcastle disease virus as an experimental oncolytic agent for animals and humans, at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine's Center for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Diseases. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in virology or a related discipline with appropriate research training. The candidate should have a strong expertise in molecular biology with emphasis on site-directed mutagenesis and reverse genetics of RNA viruses. Virginia Tech is located in Blacksburg, VA, which is a College town near the Blue Ridge Mountains and adjacent to the Jefferson National Forest.

Postdoctoral Associate, Biomedical Science

Two postdoctoral research positions are available immediately to conduct research in the laboratory of Dr. P. C. Roberts at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Work will involve:

  • Characterizing mechanisms of viral and bacterial synergistic exacerbation of disease as well as evaluation of novel viral vaccines that are being developed in our laboratory (Posting #070111 at http://jobs.vt.edu) or
     
  • Collaborative research in the laboratories of Dr. P. C. Roberts and Dr. E. M. Schmelz at Virginia Tech evaluating mechanisms governing epigenetic gene silencing in a mouse ovarian cancer model. (Posting # 070117 at http://jobs.vt.edu).
