The VMRCVM Communications unit provides a vital telecommunications and public relations interface between external and internal users of the College and Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Staffed by 5 operators, this service area handles between 700 and 1,200 phone calls a day from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Continued communications support is provided after-hours, weekends and holidays by reception personnel and an external answering service.
Through the use of 5 switchboard consoles, 300 pagers, cell phones, over 450 internal phone lines and a computerized paging system, this service group provides an efficient initial contact and call screening hub for clinical emergencies, professional consultations, client/hospital interaction and general University and VMRCVM voice communications.
