CPCVM Seminars


Meet the Faculty Seminar - October 19, 2009, 6 – 8 p.m.

This seminar will provide an opportunity for VMRCVM alumni and veterinarians in the DC, MD, and VA areas to meet or reconnect with faculty experts from the VMRCVM and to have social interaction with private and public practice colleagues. Light refreshments will be provided.

Dr. Mark CrismanVeterinary Acupuncture by Mark Crisman, DVM, MS, DACVIM
Professor and Section Chief, Large Animal Medicine and Surgery
Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Mark Crisman is a VMRCVM professor of large animal medicine and teaches a certifying course at the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. He was recently interviewed for an article on acupuncture that was published in US News and World Report. Dr. Crisman will lecture on the use of this procedure in a variety of clinical presentations. This therapy has proven to be effective in a range of species and for many disorders including arthritis, infertility, and injuries. Dr. Crisman’s presentation will be beneficial for those who currently use acupuncture in their practice as well as for those who want additional information on this form of medical intervention.


Dr. Gerhardt SchurigVMRCVM Updates by Gerhardt Schurig, DVM, PhD
Dean, Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine

Dean Schurig will provide an update on activities at the VMRCVM, including plans for expansion. He will also discuss budgetary challenges and how we are facing them. Major changes will take place in the 2009 – 2010 interview process for Maryland residents who apply to the College. This information will be crucial for any veterinarian who counsels pre-vet students.
