Gade KimsawatdePhD Candidate, Nanomedicine |
| 2007 | BS, Biotechnology Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Blacksburg, VA |
I was born in Louisville, KY, and moved back to my parents homeland, Thailand, when I was about 8 years old. After I finished high school at Ruamrudee International School in Bangkok, Thailand in 2004, I returned to America and received a Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia Tech. I then was part of a Post-Baccalaureate program (Virginia Tech's Post Baccalaureate Research and Education Program), conducting research as a VT-PREP scholar in Dr. Nathans lab. I then applied for a PhD in the Biomedical & Veterinary Sciences program, and that is how I got to where I am, pursuing my PhD.
Drug Targeting of Mycobacterium Using Nanoparticles – Our lab is doing research on drug targeting of three different types of bacteria, Brucella, Salmonella and Mycobacterium, and I am working with another colleague on Mycobacterium.
