Award Season

Dear friends and colleagues,

Over the next few weeks we will have the opportunity to celebrate accomplishments in support of our research, teaching, and service missions.

Our 25th annual Research Symposium will be held on Thursday, March 20. This event will showcase outstanding graduate student research and will feature Columbia University’s Vincent Racaniello as keynote speaker. Dr. Racaniello is the Higgins Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Columbia’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. Discoveries in his laboratory have revolutionized the study of animal RNA viruses.

Later that evening we will convene to present the best poster and best research presentation awards to our top M.S. and Ph.D. students. We will also recognize a top research faculty member with the 2014 Zoetis Award for Research Excellence. The recipients of these awards represent the excellence of our research mission.

On Friday, March 28, more than $600,000 will be awarded to veterinary students during the Spring Awards Luncheon. We are all aware of the high cost of veterinary education and the financial burden borne by students. The support provided to students will have a significant and positive financial impact on their education, and allow us to recognize their excellence. Such support would not be possible without the generosity of many donors, which we very much appreciate.

Please join me in participating in these upcoming events.

Dr. Cyril Clarke, Dean
