The Deans' Forum on Infectious Diseases
The university’s strategic plan has identified four key areas in which research should be expanded.
To help reach this goal, the Dean’s Council decided to sponsor forums with a focus on Energy, on the
Environment, on Health, Food and Nutrition and on Infectious Diseases. The later area is the focus
of the fourth forum and will be held in two parts – in March and in September of 2008.
Faculty Planning Retreat - March 10, 2008
The first event consists of a planning retreat in which selected faculty members at the university will be
invited to discuss areas of collaboration in infectious diseases that should be developed and help select
speakers to address these chosen areas. Learn more about the retreat.
The Forum - September, 2008
The second event consists of the actual forum, which the research community will
attend to hear the keynote speakers as well as become familiar with the collaborative opportunities
available both on and off campus. It is envisioned that by attending these events, the research
community on campus will be catalyzed to begin endeavors aimed at bringing new approaches and ideas to
the many facets of studying and controlling infectious diseases. Details about the forum will be posted
as they become available.
