Alison A. Smith, DVM, Diplomate ACVA
Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Smith is a clinical assistant professor in anesthesia at Virginia Tech's Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. After receiving a doctor of veterinary medicine from Iowa State University in 2000, Dr. Smith completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, in June 2001, and a residency in anesthesiology at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, in July 2003. She joined the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center's staff as a clinical instructor in anesthesia in August 2004, and was appointed to clinical assistant professor in anesthesia in August 2005. Dr. Smith completed the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's Basic Course in Veterinary Acupuncture from October 2005 to March 2006. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists, and is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture, the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
