In 2003, Dr. da Silva earned her Médico Veterinário at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, in Brazil. She stayed on at the school to complete post-graduate work in a large animal medicine and surgery training program, which concluded in 2005. Dr. da Silva recently completed an internship at Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital in Texas. One of her four previous externships had been spent at the EMC.
