VMCVM Alumni Reception

The college will be hosting a reception for our alumni, faculty, staff, and students attending the January 19-23 Veterinary Meeting & Expo (VMX) in Orlando, Florida. The Virginia Veterinary Medical Association annual conference will be held February 21-23 in Roanoke, VA. VMCVM Open House

Saturday, March 23, 2019 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Blacksburg, VA

Please join us on Saturday, March 23 at our Annual Open House for a behind-the-scenes look at our college! The event, held with support from the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA) and other student organizations, features a variety of exhibits, demonstrations, seminars, and public tours of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The purpose of the Open House is to showcase our college, provide information about the veterinary profession and careers in veterinary medicine, celebrate the role of animals in people's lives, and provide fun and entertainment for the community. The Open House is free and open to the public. No registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of dog food or toys to benefit local shelter dogs.

MPH Alumni Weekend

April 12 – 13, 2019

The Public Health Program hosts a MPH Alumni Weekend yearly. Every spring, the program welcomes MPH alumni back to campus to participate in a continuing education workshop followed by a social event with current MPH students and faculty/staff.

VMCVM Alumni Reunion and Small/Large Animal and Public Health Continuing Education Conference

August 16-18, 2019
Blacksburg, VA

Reunion weekend is open to all alumni with special recognition for class years: ’84, ’89, ’94, ’99, ’04, ’09 and ’14. Friday, August 16 kicks off the weekend with a small/large animal and public health conference featuring 6-8 hours of continuing education credit. The Friday night reception is open to all alumni, faculty, staff, and retired faculty and staff. The Saturday program features tours of the college, award presentations, and individual class activities.

We hope to see a record reunion attendance! Registration information will be available early in 2019.

Mentor Day

Any veterinarian can be a mentor. It does not matter where or when you graduated from veterinary school, your professional and personal experiences can and will help guide current veterinary students. You do not have to be a member of one of the 3 VMAs, (Virginia, Maryland, or West Virginia) but it is encouraged to be a part of YOUR professional association.

Opportunities in Veterinary Medicine

Opportunities in Veterinary Medicine seeks to help potential employers meet and engage with prospective candidates at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. This event will be open to veterinary students in all four years of the curriculum. Students in the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will be invited to submit resumes prior to the event. Employers will have the opportunity to socialize, network and interview potential candidates while at the college.

VMCVM Pregame (Virginia Tech vs. Furman) Tailgate

Our annual VMCVM pre-game tailgate is held three hours prior to kickoff and is open to all VMCVM alumni, faculty, staff, and students. This event features a full meal with adult beverages, band, corn hole boards, face tattoos, and sometimes a visit from the Hokie Bird!
