ID's, Accounts, Lockers & Supplies

  • PIDs, Passwords, and Aliases (PDF)
  • HOKIE Passport
A Hokie Passport is the official, required photo identification card for Virginia Tech students. It functions as a meal card as well as a building access key, access to campus libraries, and bus pass. The passport also has debit card capabilities for use at on and off-campus retail establishments. You will need to show your Hokie Passport ID when purchasing a parking permit.

Students must be prepared to show the card to university officials upon request. Be sure to have your Hokie Passport readily available when on campus for any reason.

Prior to your arrival at VMRCVM, Dr. Hodgson will send the VT Hokie Passport Office an official letter notifying them of your pending arrival in campus. VMRCVM pays for your first Hokie Passport, however, should you lose it, it is your responsibility to pay for a replacement.

As soon as you arrive in Blacksburg, go to the Hokie Passport Office located on the first floor of the Student Services Building. There is ample visitor parking directly across the street. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. When you come to the office, you will need to fill out an ID Request Card and provide a valid driver's license or international passport to the ID window. After your picture is taken, your passport is ready.

If you have questions about the Hokie Passport ID or associated services, contact hokiepassport@vt.edu or call (540) 231-5121 or log onto https://secure.hosting.vt.edu/www.hokiepassport.vt.edu/index.php
  • Locker Assignments
You will be assigned a locker during your time at VMRCVM. This will remain your locker throughout your time with us. It is your responsibility to supply a lock for your locker.

Ladies will be assigned a locker in the women’s locker room located in the Academic Affairs hallway on the second floor of Phase III. Men will be assigned a locker in their respective locker room located in the same hallway.

When your time at VMRCVM is complete, it is your responsibility to remove your lock and all items from your locker. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Farley at kfarley@vt.edu or (540) 231-7881.

Get to know the Veterinary Teaching Hospital

  • Orientation Schedule & Hospital Tour (PDF)
  • VTH Orientation Memos
    • Large Animal Clinical Sciences (PDF)
    • Small Animal Clinical Sciences (PDF)
    • Radiology (PDF)
It is required that new Ross and St. Georges students complete their Radiation Safety Training certification tests at least two weeks prior to arriving for orientation to VMRCVM. Once you have successfully certified, radiation dosimetry badges are issued to you at orientation. Under no circumstances is a student permitted to begin their clinical rotations at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital without successfully completing the required radiation certifications exams and receiving their certification. This memorandum provides the steps a student must follow to complete these exams, online.
  • Senior Shadow
Dr. Jacquelyn Pelzer will assign you to a VMRCVM fourth-year student who has already rotated through the same clerkship as your first internal block assignment. She will email both the student and yourself so you can communicate directly with your Senior Shadow prior to your arrival in Blacksburg.

On the Thursday prior to your first day at VMRCVM, you will participate in rounds as well as other activities with your assigned “shadow.” That day, you will be our guests for lunch at The Vet Med Café; it will also provide an opportunity for you to participate in a “Meet & Greet” of other vet students, staff, and faculty.
