Purchase as a Class

Some of the items required during your four years at VMRCVM can be purchased as a class. These include: latex gloves, coveralls, stethoscopes, scrubs, gowns, and clinician jackets. It may be more convenient to order this way or some of the items may be sold at a better rate if purchased in bulk.

To purchase an item as a class, one person in the class will need to act as the coordinator. It will be the coordinator's job to contact various sources (see MDL for catalogs and phone numbers), to identify specifics required of the item, obtain price information, and possibly have samples sent (especially when size is an issue). It may also be helpful to contact the class coordinator from the year before. Once the source of the item is identified, the class will place their individual orders with the coordinator. Each individual will pay the class. The coordinator will place the class order with the source and pay the source with a check from the class account. Once the order arrives, the coordinator will need to pick and distribute the items to individuals.

Helpful hints:

  • buy one lab coat big enough to fit over a sweater and one that will fit over lightweight clothing
  • buy scalpel blades by the box and share them with classmate
  • if you are left handed, be sure to specify a left handed needle holder when purchasing your dissection kit
  • use plastic protectors to slip your notes in during anatomy labs
