Cap and Gown Order Forms - Due Friday, February 1, 2008

Application for Degree - Due Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Instructions for applying for your degree on Hokie Spa:

  • Go to www.registrar.vt.edu
  • Click on Hokie Spa
  • Login using your PID and password.
  • On the Main Menu, click Hokie Spa
  • Select Degree Menu
  • Select Veterinary Medicine Student Degree Menu
  • Application for Degree will display DVM, click submit
  • The next screen displays the student's major and degree. It should read Veterinary Medicine (VM) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Click apply
  • This screen displays the student's name as it will appear on the diploma
  • Indicate your:
    • Expected term of graduation (Spring, 2009)
    • Which degree you are applying for-select First Degree
    • Degree Name
    • Major applying this degree to
    • Primary major
    • Hometown (city, state, US)-this will be used for individual press releases after graduation and for the University commencement Booklet.
    • Check the box for attending the spring ceremony.
    • Click submit.
  • The last page confirms what you have requested. Print and retain.
     

Externship Scholarship for 4th Year Students

Applications are due Friday, February 15, 2008.

This is to notify you that money is available from the E. L. Tyler Vaughan, Jr. Endowed Fund and the Herman and Mildred Corder Endowed Fund to assist 4th year veterinary students with their educational needs. It is recognized that there are additional costs in the 4th year associated with clinical rotations away from Blacksburg. Everyone is encouraged to apply.

Amount of Awards:
Scholarships will be awarded considering minimum and maximum amounts per student. These awards will be determined during spring semester and awarded in the first summer session, 2008. If selected, you will be expected to attend the Spring Awards Ceremony in 2009 and be formally recognized for receiving this scholarship.

Selection Criteria:
These scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. Major consideration will be given to the nature of a student's program of study, including special needs within the applicant's program, and financial need.

Application Procedure:
Interested rising 4th year students should submit a letter that does not exceed 2 pages single-spaced, giving name, pertinent information regarding their program of study and any special circumstances involved in the request to Academic Affairs for consideration by the Scholarship and Awards Committee. Do not request the full dollar amount unless it is truly needed. Estimated itemized budget and strong justification is required regardless of amount requested. Below is a link to a sample budget.
